Friends of the Bees
Our planet earth is under great threats. Global warming, pollution, deforestation, loss of biodiversity, melting Polar Ice-Caps and Rising Sea Levels, Oceanic Dead Zones and explosive population growth and colony collapse disorder.

BEE Friendly seeks to play a part of in the global movement that seeks to improve and protect the quality of our natural environment through changes to environmentally harmful human activities. The global bee population is on the decline. Without bees, one third of our food source will be wipe out.

Level 1: Introduction to Beekeeping

Introduction to Beekeeping (Level 1) is meant for honey bee lovers and those who aspire to be a hobbyist. Beekeeping is virtually non-existent in Singapore. In Europe, America, Australia, New Zealand and more parts of the world, beekeeping is as common as gardening. Urban beekeeping is a new trend. Through this course, participants will learn what it takes to be a hobbyist beekeeper.

2. Why beekeeping?
3. Code of Conduct
4. Safe beekeeping practices and policy
5. Beekeeping versus honey hunting
6. Beekeeping systems
7. Beekeeping equipment
8. Principles of Beekeeping

Level 2: Beekeeping Hands-On

Beekeeping Level 2 is meant for bee lovers and those who aspire to be a hobbyist. This is a hands-on session where participants will learn the followings:

1. Use of smoker
2. Hive inspection
3. How to catch a hive
4. How to prevent an abscond
5. Make your own bee hive

Programme 9

BEE AMAZED Garden Tour

Visit the private BEE AMAZED Garden in Singapore. The garden is open to the public and all who are interested. Observe the local bees in close proximity and in safety at the BEE Observatory. Learn about the honey bees and a brief history of beekeeping. Learn to be a friend of the bees. Without bees, a third of our food source will be gone. Protect the bees and protect our food source.

BEE AMAZED Day Camp

In partnership with Ground-Up Initiative and DiggerSite Amusement Park, BEE AMAZED Garden is delighted to present to you a day camp.
Student participants will get to experience what it is like to
1. Be a junior beekeeper and learn about honey bees and honey.
2. Be a junior construction worker and learn how to operate an excavator, crane tower
3. Be junior farmer and learn what kampung farming is like.
